TOGETHER, WE WILL CREATE A BETTER CAPE COD
Owen Fletcher knows how to build consensus and get things done in Boston for our district.Together, we will work each day to create a better Cape Cod.
WATER QUALITY
Cape Cod can’t exist without clean water.
- The quality of water is declining as pollution increases and the proposed machine gun range at Joint Base Cape Cod poses new risks.
- We need more funds to help towns pay for wastewater infrastructure and water quality remediation projects and to support homeowners paying for hookups to town sewers.
- I’ll work on laws that provide new funding to clean up past contamination, prevent future damage, and oppose construction of the planned gun range.
TRANSPORTATION
New bridges, big costs
- The Sagamore and Bourne Bridges are the only way to and from Cape Cod by car.
- We must find $4.5 billion dollars to replace those functionally obsolete crossings without unnecessary disruptions to residents and visitors.
- I’ll work with other state and federal representatives to convince the U.S. government to pay those costs by investing state dollars to successfully make that case.
HOUSING
New laws and funding for local solutions
- We don’t have enough attainable homes for our residents, workers, and young adults.
- Our laws and regulations must lower the costs of building and redeveloping housing.
- I’ll work to find innovative solutions that empower towns to partner with the private sector to create needed homes.
REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM
Guaranteeing real choices
- Everyone should freely choose if and when to become a parent.
- It’s too difficult for women here to access reproductive healthcare, including abortions.
- I’ll work for laws expanding women’s access to care, increasing funding for service providers, and ensuring protection from misinformation or harassment.
FOOD INSECURITY
Ensuring access so no one goes hungry
- We’re paying the largest amount of our income for food in a generation.
- We need laws to ensure the availability of healthy food to all residents and reduce food waste.
- I’ll work for continued funding to make sure no child goes hungry – and everyone has access to the food they need.
HUMAN RIGHTS
Upholding the inherent dignity of all individuals
- Everyone should have the freedom to live as they choose.
- Incidents of bullying and discrimination are increasing.
- I will work to make sure our district and Massachusetts are diverse and welcoming places, and our laws provide tools to prevent bullying, intimidation, and violence based upon our differences.
